We were so excited to share all some of the wonderful gifts in the SendOutCards gift store — which were handpicked from our great team at the SendOutCards Corporate Office. Congratulations to all our winners! For those who didn’t win, we hope you were still able to get some ideas going about what to get your special someone this holiday. Don’t forget, you can still purchase some of these great gifts from SOC Gifts!
As we wind down to the 14th, (only 2 days left until Valentine’s Day!) we understand that some may be in crunch to getting the perfect gift in time. So we’ve got a wonderful DIY (Do It Yourself) idea that you can create with a few easy supplies that you can find at home. Guest blogger, Tiffany L., from our SendOutCards Corporate Office, will be explaining how you can easily create a wonderful, thoughtful gift, without breaking the bank! Read more below!
Tiffany: Hi everyone! This is a fun idea that I came across it last Valentine’s, when I was pressing for an affordable, but creative idea to surprise my boyfriend. I wish I could take credit for this great idea, but found my inspiration on Pinterest.
The great thing about this gift is that it’s personal, easy-to-make, and inexpensive. It was also a huge hit, because whoever you’re surprising will know that it came from the heart and most importantly, made with love. And that’s what matters.
Typically, the cards are created as “52 Reasons Why I Love You.” For my deck, I created “52 Reasons Why I’m Falling For You.” At the time, my boyfriend and I hadn’t said those three big words yet, so I adjust this idea to fit me. That’s another great thing about this gift, it’s incredible versatile and you make adjustments accordingly to fit your needs.
The list of reasons why I liked and was falling in love with him was eternally long, but for this project, I narrowed it down to the 52. I tried to include things he did for me, how he makes me feel, funny stuff, etc. More importantly, I wanted to include things that about his character, so that he knew I genuinely loved him for the person he is.
Here are the supplies you’ll need to create this gift:
- Deck of Cards — they can be any brand. I got mine from the game section at Target. You can also take personalization to the next level and create them in the SOC Photo Store. See below to learn more!
- Binder Rings — I found colored ones at Office Depot. But you can find them at any office supply store. They may also be available at craft stores.
- Cover paper I got card stock from Hobby Lobby. But you can find it any office supply or craft store.
- Labels — I got these at Office Depot too. I used the Avery Address Labels 5160, but you can pick any size that works best for you. I created the labels in Microsoft Word. I used labels because it was the quickest and easiest way for me to write and create these cards. You can also skip the labels option and use a permanent marker to write down your reasons.
- Glue Stick
- 3-hole punch
Using SendOutCards for this Project
I created these cards before I had been exposed to SendOutCards. However, you can eliminate most of these steps by using the SendOutCards Photo Store. Using the “Playing Cards Deck” feature, you can create these quickly, type your reason right on to each card and personalize the look and feel of each card. The SOC Photo Store allows you to create default face cards, create personal face cards with your own pictures, or eliminate the face cards and simply design a deck of beautiful, I love you cards. The cards are perfect for anytime of the year. You don’t have to wait until February 14 to express your feelings to someone you care about. To learn more about using this feature, check out our Custom Classic Valentine’s post.
SendOutCards strives to spread the message gratitude all over the world. It doesn’t have to be with a deck of cards or anything fancy, but it’s important to show your gratitude and appreciation to the people in your life. Take the time, sit down and write down all 52 things you love about someone in your life. Big things, small things silly things, sweet things, random things, anything — just write. It’s a beautiful thing to share your love for the important people in your life.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
